Warsash Spring Series Race 4, April 7th

Jukebox returned to the circuit this weekend, pulling off a second in Saturday’s NAB tower race, then getting back on the water the next day for the fourth race of the Warsash Spring Series. The wind was light, but the fleet got off the line in a gentle 6 to 8 knots which held for the majority of the race.

After a poor start from Jiraffe, the race quickly developed into a battle between the overlapping headsail of Jukebox vs. the IRC non-overlapping jib on Jubilee. The consensus after the race was that there was little to choose in upwind speed between the two, with Jubilee leading for the bulk of the race. But as the wind shifted right, the course turned into a series of reaching legs and the greater pulling power of the overlapping headsail allowed Jukebox to pass Jubilee.

Behind them, Mojo Risin’ was showing a great turn of speed and overhauled Jiraffe on the reaching leg. Jybe Talkin’ lead Red Arrow and Jengu into the finish completing the best attended race of the season to date with seven taking part.

Jukebox managed a fourth in the overall IRC 2 rankings with Jubilee at 6th.

Sadly no photos this week from Closehauledphotography, so just the results below.
