J109 National Championships - Dartmouth Week

The 2024 J109 National Championship will be part of the Dartmouth Royal Regatta on 28- 31 August. 3 races a day are scheduled. We've already got 8 J/109s signed up:
JAGO, Jedi, Jenie, Jubilant, Jukebox, Jumping Jellyfish, Just So and Mojo Risin'.

Cowes Week

The annual festival of sailing at Cowes Week kicks off in 10 days time. We have Je T'Aime Jami, Jenie, Jeroboam, Joule, Jukebox, Jybe Talkin', Karaboudjan, Mojo Risin' and Red Arrow lined up.

One more boat and the class members will be able to compete for the Black group overall title.

J109 Europeans and IRC Europeans

The 2024 J109 Europeans are taking place at the Royal Irish Yacht Club in Dun Laoghaire, as part of the J Cup Ireland on 7 - 8 September. This is followed by the IRC Europeans at the same venue on 10- 15 September.

Expect  Mocking-J, Jings, Tighey Boy, Jukebox, Chimaera, and others at both events.

Racing Reports

The Key Yachting  J Cup, managed by the Royal Southern yacht club in Hamble saw the first one- design racing of the year, with 8 J/109s competing. It was a hard- fought battle between Jenie and Jumping Jellyfish, who won 7 of the 8 races between them, with Jenie edging it in the end.

The Taittinger regatta, organised by the Royal Solent Yacht Club in Yarmouth had 7 109s in the mix.  Jumping Jellyfish won the regatta ahead of Jenie, JAGO and Just So. It was a close regatta with a different boat winning each of the three races.

Jenie recorded third place in IRC2 in the IRC National Championships at the Poole regatta.

Just So are leading class 2 in  the JOG Coastal series, winning the Yarmouth - Cowes race and getting third in the Cowes - Yarmouth race. They're also lying second in the JOG offshore series, after a win in the Deauville race.

Mojo Risin' are lying second in the RORC points championship in IRC 3.

In Scotland, Mocking-J won the RC35 Championship at the Holy Loch sailing club. Jings came third.  At the Bangor regatta, Mocking-J  won again. They're lying first in the RC35 series, with Jings in third.
