Measurement Pairings

With 2025's one- design racing due to start with the J- Cup in June, the class committee is reacting to concerns among the class to improve the measurement of J/109s competing. Class members are being asked to pair up to check compliance on another class mamber's boat.  The idea is to check that the boats remain compliant with J/109 class rules (and IRC rules), checking that heavy items such as heads, stoves, tables and doors remain in place as well as the list of safety items that have been checked in the past.

We've a list of UK J/109s in the list downloadable below.  Please check who you've been paired with, and arrange to inspect each other's boats before the J Cup. If you're not part of a pairing, and you're planning on one- design racing,  please reach out to other boats through the WhatsApp group.

Some sample findings are:
16 boats responded (one of them twice)
11 in the Solent, 5 outside
8 are planning on attending the Nationals at the J Cup
9 are planning on attending Dartmouth Week.
5 for Taittinger, 3 for Cowes week, none for the J Cup Ireland and 5 for the mooted Royal Thames regatta in September.
